As we cool down from a long, hot summer —
It’s almost time to break out those pumpkins, spooky skeletons & some “healthy-ish” Halloween snack mix.
Crisp, tart fruits. Caramel. Chocolate—yes, even candy corn.
There are many pleasant tastes to look forward to, but this time of the year can become quite challenging because honestly, show me any person that can have just a few pieces of Halloween candy without taking the whole bowl. It’s just not possible.
As the classic horror movie trope goes … it’s coming from inside the house.
And, no, it’s not leaving anytime soon. Halloween candy is like glitter—you’ll be finding it for months to come!
What about a Halloween snack full of rich, decadent dark-chocolate without the hefty calories of your seasonal faves?
This “healthy-ish” Halloween snack mix will indulge your tastebuds without the sugar rush. Spooktacular.
List of things you’ll need:
- A large bowl
- A few minutes
- 2 cups of your favorite corn-based cereal
- 2 cups of caramel popcorn
- 1 cup of small pretzels
- .5 cup of granola
- 1 cup of dried cranberries
- 2 handfuls of roasted pepitas
- 1 handful of candy corn or candy pumpkins (or, to taste)
- 2 handfuls of salted peanuts (or, to taste)
- 1 handful of mini marshmallows
- 1 cup of diced RED orange & almond dark chocolate
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie seasoning
Mix, mix, mix it up!
This flavor explosion with keep in an airtight container for a couple of weeks.
Share your indulgent Halloween experience with friends and loved ones by simply putting your mix into a mason jar with a burlap bow or Halloween ribbon. Toss into some goody bags to give out on the 31st — or, keep it for yourself and satisfy the munchies-monster once and for all!
