Make your holidays indulgently memorable this year. Instead of frosting, decorate your favorite traditional desserts with chocolate. Chocolate dipped cookies take any holiday celebration to the next level.

Chewy.

Soft.

Homemade.

COOKIES.

Just picture, sinking your teeth into your favorite freshly baked cookie topped with warm, velvety, melted chocolate. Now, that’s a holiday celebration worth being a part of.

The greatest thing about dessert is that it is eaten around the world. Every faith in every culture has traditional cookies, biscuits, and other sweets. You can never go wrong with cookies. The holidays are a perfect time to make homemade treats to share with loved ones.

Below are three popular holiday cookies, all of which can be drizzled or dipped in melted chocolate. Go out right now, and get the ingredients.

Sesame Seed Cookies

Another name for sesame is benne. Many people also call them benne wafers or sesame seed wafers. Often served during Kwanzaa, sesame seed cookies are also a popular southern treat. Sesame seed originates from Africa.

Whisk it Real Gud has the best recipe for this simple, nutty confection. This blog does a great job of showing how beautiful the cookies look with drizzled chocolate on top. How can you look away from that picture?

Biscochos

Very popular among Sephardic (Spanish) Jewish families, the biscocho originates from Greece. Jewish Food Society has the easiest to follow recipe for this simple and hearty sweet treat.

Great to dunk in coffee or tea, this cookie can be topped with sugar, sesame seeds, or any multitude of savory or sweet options. You know what, forget the hot beverage, just do yourself a favor and dunk it in melted chocolate. You’ll thank us later.

Chocolate Dipped Sugar Cookies

All hail the cookie of all cookies. How could anyone resist homemade sugar cookies, especially in the month of December? Famous for being decorated with a range of colors and different textures of sprinkles, sugar cookies are where it’s at. Shouldn’t chocolate also get attention too? Of course, it should.

Cover the rim with chocolate, dip half of it in chocolate, drizzle, or make a design. It’s easy to turn this basic dessert into a work of art.

Alton Brown has never steered the food world wrong. Get his basic recipe here. Who says that you have to choose between frosting and chocolate anyway? How about this? One side smeared in chocolate, the other side smeared with frosting, then just take one big bite.

Chocolate Dipped Holiday Cookies

This year, you don’t have to ditch the frosting, but never forget the chocolate. We all know the holidays can be a time of gluttony and access, but they don’t have to be. Eat dessert responsibly. RED chocolate has all the flavor, but with up to 50% fewer calories and 40% less fat than leading brands. With no added sugar, RED will add richness to any cookie.

Spice up your favorite holiday cookies by drizzling or dunking them with RED chocolate.

  • Crush or chop up any chocolate bar into a small saucepan or glass microwavable bowl.
  • Melt chocolate over low to medium-low heat until almost melted. If microwaving, only do 25 seconds increments and lightly stir in between. Watch carefully.
  • Drizzle or dunk cooled cookies in the melted chocolate. Let set on parchment paper or a glass plate.
